This coffee from Wanderly Franco and his farm Morrada dos Pássaros is one of the fruitiest natural coffees from Brazil we've had the pleasure to try. Connotations of fig jam is our primary reference to describe this coffee, which has a super clean, creamy mouthfeel reminiscent of milk chocolate.

Wanderley Franco owns Morada dos Pássaros, a 45-hectare coffee farm located in Campestre, Sul de Minas. The area is known for its rich volcanic soil, which makes it perfect for growing high-quality coffee. At an altitude of 1120 metres, the farm grows Mundo Novo, Red and Yellow Catuaí, and Yellow Catucaí varieties. The harvest takes place from June to September, and the coffee undergoes natural processing.
Wanderley, the third generation to run Morada dos Pássaros, manages the farm with his son-in-law, Flávio Bandeiras. Wanting to improve their production, Wanderley and Flávio turned their focus to specialty coffee.
Since 2016, they’ve been part of the Especialíssimo program, a specialty coffee initiative by SMC and Cooxupé. This has helped them consistently produce excellent coffee each year. With better opportunities, they upgraded the farm by restoring patios, adding new machinery, improving storage, and learning more about plant care and harvesting. Cooxupé and SMC also provide technical support.
The farm’s name, "Morada dos Pássaros," meaning "home of the birds," was inspired by the many bird species that live in the area.
